M.T. Kershall. Ch. Bos'n

Join the Navy at the early age of 23 and was in the Merchant Marine at 17. he held the heavyweight championship boxing record of the fleet for a year and was finally defeated by H.M. Hermis.

And he was also the shot put champion of a submarine base out in the Atlantic.

He attended the fire fighter school in Norfolk, VA when join the Navy.

Kershall played baseball in 1929 with the scouting force fleet was 1st baseman and also pitched. He was one of the team's most valuable players.

Bos'n Kershall was in Pearl Harbor when the Japs attacked the United States. He is a graduate of Gyroscope school in New York. The Bos'n holds the 1st officer certificate on the unlimited tonnage ocean going vessel. He was awarded the Y.A.N.G.T.Z.E. Service - good conduct - expert rifling medal - China spruce med - silver life saving med. - and many other outstanding ribbons and medals.
